Proprietors of Empire Rubber Co Ltd and Rubber Bonders Ltd[1]
1927 Herbert Glencairn Wright Chichester-Miles set up a business as merchants and suppliers of rubber components to the automobile industry under the name Empire Rubber Company.
1929 H. G. Miles Ltd was incorporated as a private company to acquire this business which continued to trade under the name Empire Rubber.
1938 A factory was built at Dunstable for the business.
1941 Acquired 49 percent of a new company, Rubber Bonders Ltd set up to manufacture the anti-vibration couplings and mountings developed by Manganese Bronze and Brass[2]
1947 Acquired the remainder of the shares in Rubber Bonders.
1952 Acquired an additional factory at Clacton-on-Sea
1953 In order to supply existing British customers who had started automobile production in Australia, acquired 25 percent of Associated Rubber (Proprietary).
1955 H. G. Miles (Holdings) was incorporated as a public company to acquire the shares in H. G. Miles Ltd[3]
1964 Had diversified into plastic reinforced hose; [4]
1966 Sold 20 percent of their Australian subsidiary to Dunlop Rubber Australia[5]
