1892 Ebenezer Hall-Brown and John A. Buttery established the partnership and took over the St Helens Engine Works.

1898 'Shortly before midnight fire was discovered to have broken out the works of Messrs Hall, Brown, Buttery, & Co., engineers and boilermakers, Helen Street, Govan'[1]

c.1900 Merged with A. Rodger and Co who are listed at the St. Helen's Engine works.[2]
