1825 James Yates (Stockport) of Heaton Foundry was listed under 'Iron, &c. Founders' [1]

1845 'IMPORTANT. TO FLOUR MILLERS AND OTHERS INTERESTED IN THE GRINDING OF WHEAT, &C.
GORDON'S PATENT.
This Patent has been successfully applied to Five Pair of Stones, running night and day, at the Tees Mill, Stockton. It consists of a Blast for forcing Cold Air between the Stones, whereby the Stones are kept Cool, and do not require to be taken up so often. From 20 to 25 per Cent. more Flour is manufactured with the same quantity of Coal, than was done previous to its application. Messrs Thos. Wren and Sons, of the Tees Mills, have kindly consented to show it to any person.
The Patent has also been successfully applied at the Tradeston Mills. Glasgow; and we have the permission of Wm. Muir, Esq., to publish the following testimonial :-
Mr Rt. Gordon.
Sir,— I have had your Patent Cold Blast applied to One Pair of stones for some time past, and am now so satisfied with its simplicity of application and efficiency of working, that I wish you to apply it to Other Four Pairs. I can with confidence recommend the most efficient apparatus now in use for keeping the Flour cool, while undergoing the process of grinding, and, consequently, preserving its natural colour and strength. I am, Sir, yours respectfully. ....

1852 PATENT MULTITUBULAR BOILERS, Manufactured by Robert Gordon & Company. .... At Messrs. James Marshall & Sons’, Stockport, five of the 70 horse Patent Multitubular Boilers, each 23 feet long, and 6 feet 6 inches diameter, are doing the same amount of work as ten Butterley and other Boilers, .... Boilers in course of erection may be viewed, and further particulars as to prices obtained, by applying to Messrs. ROBERT GORDON & CO., Heaton Foundry, Stockport. ...'[3]
