Henley-on-Thames Oil Mills

From Graces Guide

1867 Announcement. 'IMPORTANT to the AGRICULTURISTS of BERKS, BUCKS, OXON, and HANTS. PROPOSED CO-OPERATIVE LINSEED CAKE MILLS COMPANY. IT has been frequently suggested by Agriculturists, that the Henley-on-Thames Oil Mills should be formed into a Company for supplying a pure and superior quality of Linseed Cake, on the principle adopted by the " Driffield and East Riding of Yorkshire Pure Linseed Cake Company, Limited" which is so successfully and advantageously carried on by Agriculturists. The Henley Mills were especially erected for the Manufacture of Linseed Cake, have been some time in operation, are conveniently situated for the carriage of goods per water and rail, and fitted with the best machinery capable of making 1,500 tons of cake yearly. A moderate amount of capital only is required to set them in immediate operation, as a great portion of that already invested can be taken in shares, and the remainder transferred on equitable terms. Therefore it is proposed now to FORM COMPANY for Working the Mills under the Limited Act, with the necessary Capital subscribed in Shares of £10 each. All favouring the proposal, and desirous of participating in its advantages, (as it is anticipated that the supply of Cake would be only equal to the requirements of the shareholders), are requested to communicate early with the undersigned, stating the number of shares for which they will subscribe; and, providing sufficient support is promised, further steps will be immediately taken to convene Meeting to consider the matter. RICHARD BURNISTON, Henley-on-Thames.'[1]
