Trained as a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer with Honours and Queen's Prizes in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture and Arts.
1891-6 Science teacher under the South Birmingham Association of Mechanical Engineers, Kensington Rules evening classes.
1894 Joined Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Co - studied wood working machinery
1895 Trusty Engine Co, Cheltenham, designing gas and oil engines
1896 Tangyes, re-designing gas engines
1897-9 Chief draughtsman and works manager, Heenan and Froude
1899 Joined Belliss and Morcom as assistant works manager.
1900 Married Mary Buckeridge in Calne[2]
1901 Henry J Carrington 29, electric light engine builder, lived in Ladywood with Mary Carrington 33[3]
1901 An engineer, at the baptism of his son, David Wilkinson James-Carrington, in Calne[4]

1921 Became an Associate Member of the Inst of Elect Engineers
1922 Specializing in design and equipment of industrial work, reinforced concrete construction known as the "Carrington" system, etc., general consultant on works plants and constructional engineering.
1942 Died in Worcester[6]
