Hewlett and Blondeau Flying School, Brooklands

1910 September: Hilda B. Hewlett and Gustav Blondeau established the first flying school in England at the Brooklands motor-racing circuit at Weybridge, Surrey.

Many people gained their first experience of flying at the Hewlett and Blondeau school, including Thomas Sopwith. The school had a remarkable safety record for the time, there were no accidents in the first 1.5 years of operation.
