1899 Advert: THE ELECTROID GAS LIGHT SYNDICATE, LIMITED. This has been formed for the purpose of carrying on the business of an electroid light company ... coin in the slot system. The syndicate proposes to take over the interest pf Messrs. J. S. Leach and Co. Ltd., Broughton Bridge Ironworks, Salford, engineers, coppersmiths and dyers' requisites, together with the fixtures, plant, tools, etc., adapted for the purpose of the business of the syndicate, and the manufacture of acetylene gas generators, mixers and apparatus for the delivery of this and allied gases. By means of the automatic vending machines such items as periodicals, fruit, sweetmeats, medicines, stationery, cyclists’ requisites and other articles in daily and hourly use will meet with a new and ready channel of distribution. ...'
