1982 The Jacobs coffee business was merged with Suchard-Tobler, makers of chocolate.

1983 Claimed to be in the top 5 food companies in Europe; owned Tobler Suchard and Meltis[1]

The trading activities were operated under the Van Houten name

1990 Jacobs Suchard was the world's third largest coffee and chocolate company when it was acquired by Philip Morris of the USA[2]

1990 Jacobs Suchard (UK) plc was placed in members' voluntary liquidation[3]

1993 Kraft General Foods International acquired the Jacobs Suchard company, merging with Terry's to create Terry's Suchard. The deal included Callard and Bowser, Nuttalls, Smith Kendon, Chocometz, Aura[4]
