1811 Born the son of Joseph Clark, a farmer.

1828 At age 17 he joined his brother Cyrus Clark as an apprentice in the business

1835 Married Eleanor the daughter of William Stephens, a linen draper of Bridport. They had fourteen children including William Stephens Clark and Francis Joseph Clark

1851 Living at High Street, Street (age 30 born Street), Manufacturer of Sheepskin Rugs and Shoes. With his wife Eleanor (age 38 born Bridport) and their children Amy Jane (age 13 born Street), Fanny (age 10 born Street), Thomas D. (age 7 born Street), Ann E. (age 6 born Street), Eleanor (age 4 born Street), Florence M. (age 3 born Street), Sophia S. (age 1 born Street) and James E. (age 4 months born Street). Also three servants. Note: Living in adjoining house to his brother Cyrus Clark' [1]
