1931 Died. 'The death took place last week-end, at Southborne, Hampshire, of Mr. John Charles Shaw, member a well-known Shipley family. Mr. Shaw, who was invariably known to his acquaintances as Johnny Shaw, was formerly associated with the Bradford Dyers’ Association. Later he went into business on his own account, retiring about 18 months ago to take up residence in Hampshire. During his residence in Shipley he was a popular member of the Shipley Liberal Club. He was the last surviving son Mr. Fred Shaw, the principal of Shaw and Co., Ltd., dyers and finishers, Midland Dye Works, Shipley, a firm which was taken over some years ago by the Bradford Dyers’ Association. His uncle, Mr. C. B. Shaw, was for many years the chairman of the Shipley District Council. When Mr. Fred Shaw died, he left £100,000 to be divided among his three sons, Herbert, Edgar and John. The other two sons, Mr. Herbert Shaw and Mr. Edgar Shaw, are both dead.[1]
