John Collinge

From Graces Guide

1824 John Collinge, Lambeth Road, Engineer, became a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.[1]

1809 newspaper report: 'Thursday morning a young lad, an apprentice to Mr. Collinge, steam engine builder, Bridge-road, Lambeth, by imprudently stepping upon a turning lathe band, that connects some part of his machinery, was instantly driven between two cog wheels that were in motion at the time, but by exertion of the engineer, he was providentially saved from destruction; one of his thighs was broken in two places, and the other severely bruised. He was taken to St. Thomas’s Hospital without hopes of recovery.'[2]. Was this the factory of John Collinge? Later taken on by Charles Collinge and Co?
