John Scale Junior
Presumably the son of John Scale (1736/7-1793)
1799 John Scale Junior and some of his relations established Aberdare Ironworks, initially with one blast furnace but with an engine capable of blowing two.
1801 John Scale Junior wrote to Matthew Boulton from Aberdare Ironworks, near Cardiff. "When we began to erect our works here it was with the intention of confining ourselves for some time to our blast furnace, with a machine capable of blowing two. About 12 months ago Messrs. Thompson Firman and Homfrey of London offered us a loan to build a second furnace and we accepted their offer …"[1]
1804 Messrs Scale entered an agreement with the Tappendens of Abernant Ironworks for the use of the tramway to connect their works with the Neath Canal.
