John Somervell (1814-1887) of K Shoes

Born at London the son of John Somervell and his wife Margaret Wilson

1838 In partnership with John Ireland as a prominent woollen Manufacturer in Kendal

1847 Married at Kendal to Rachel Wilson and they had two daughters and two sons

1848 Joined with his brother Robert Miller Somervell and formed Somervell Brothers

1871 Residing at 11 Kent Terrace, Kendal: John Somervell (age 56 born London), Leather Merchant employing 500 people. With his wife Rachel, one daughter and two sons.[1]

1887 Died age 72. Was mayor of Kendal in 1882-3.[2]
