Kistna Viaduct (Raichur)

This entry relates to the Kistna Viaduct at Raichur, in the state of Hyderabad, built for the Great Indian Peninsula Railway

3,865 feet in length in 36 spans of 103 ft.

Warren truss girders constructed by Skerne Ironworks in 1870-1. Eye bars were used for the tension members, with centres specified to be accurate within 1/64" in 10 ft. Tolerance on holes and pins 0.010". Ten of the spans were fixed together for testing at Skerne Works, on wooden support piers.

The girders were renewed c.1935.
