Lawrence Ardern (1887-1935) of Stewart and Ardern

1887 Born in Stockport - the son of Lawrence Ardern (1845-1898) and his wife Mary Ann Ardern[1]

1908 Initiation into the Freemasons at Isaac Newton University Lodge, Cambridge.

1914 Married at St. Martin in the Fields, London to Marie Antoinette Marah Von Hapsburg Lorraine Stevens. He is described as an Automobile Agent and his father is Lawrence Ardern (deceased) and a former Cotton Spinner.

1935 Died. 'Mr. L. Arden died suddenly on Thursday morning at his residence. Athgarvan Lodge, Curragh. He was engaged in the motor trade in London for many years. He was then a partner in the company of Messrs. Stewart and Arden. He disposed of his interest in the company and came to Ireland. His first residence in Ireland was in Connaught, but more recently he bought Athgarvan Lodge, and trained his own and Mrs. Arden's horses there. Generally these were moderate. They won a moderate proportion of races.'[2]

1936 Concerning his estate. '...the estate of Lawrence Ardern, late of Athgarvan Lodge, The Curragh, in the county of Kildare, Ireland, formerly of Athenry, in the county of Galway, Ireland...'[3]
