Louis Marino Casella

Louis Marino Casella (1842–1923), manufacturer of scientific instruments

1842 born in London, the first son of Louis Paschal Casella and his wife Maria.

Joined his father's firm, Louis Casella and Co, where he worked on the design of instruments

1861 Registered his first patent, for a thermometer.

1897 following his father's death, his involvement in the business became an arm's length one. His own business interests took him into different areas of manufacturing.

WWI Was chairman of D. Gilson and Co., a firm making screws and turned parts. C. F. Casella and Co set up a new factory alongside the Gilson factory in Walthamstow.

1918 the Casella company was able to revert to peacetime production better than Gilsons did

Partial amalgamation of the two companies

1923 Died at home in Hampstead.
