1903 Mr M J Gleeson set up his business as civil engineering and building contractors[1] in Sheffield.[2]
1925 Incorporated as M. J. Gleeson Ltd
1935 'Builders of houses for more than half a century, Messrs. M. J. Gleeson, Ltd., are opening up a new estate of 100 acres at Nonsuch Park. Ewell. Nonsuch Park was originally built for Henry VIII., and is now being acquired by the Council in connection with the "green belt round London" scheme. Gleeson's new estate is within five minutes of Cheam Station and has wonderful views over the park.'[3]
1939 M. J. Gleeson Ltd won a contract for construction of a viaduct at Denham to extend the Western Avenue in West London[4]
1950 M. J. Gleeson (Contractors) Ltd was incorporated to acquire M. J. Gleeson Ltd. One of Gleeson's nephews was chairman and G. R. Eastwood was a director.
c.1955 Started house building on its own account
1959 'A £400.000 contract for superstructure at Belvedere Power Station, near Erith. Kent. has been awarded to M. J. Gleeson Ltd., of North Cheam. Surrey.'[5]

1982 Renamed M. J. Gleeson Group PLC
2014 Renamed M. J. Gleeson Group Ltd, of Sheffield
