1850 Advert: 'MATHER, LEDWARD, & CO. have completed their Removal from Salthouse Dock to their new premises, in CARPENTER'S ROW, Hurst Street, and VULCAN STREET, Waterloo Road. and their friends will find a well assorted stock of IRON, STEEL, &c. at both Warehouses.
TO BE LET — ELIGIBLE PREMISES adjoining the Vulcan-street Warehouse, situate between Porter-street and Vulcan-street. and containing about 500 square yards.— Apply as above.'[2]

1869 Partnership dissolved. '...the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned John Philips Mather and Septimus Ledward, as Iron Merchants, at the Albany, Old Hall-street, Liverpool, under the firm of Mather, Ledward, and Co., was this day dissolved by mutual consent...'[4]
The firm were probably merchants rather than manufacturers.
