McEvoy
McEvoy were motorcycles produced in Derby, by Michael McEvoy, from 1924 to 1929.
1924-1927 Built to exacting standards and high cost, Michael McEvoy specialized in road and racing motorcycles. These were mainly V-twins with 996cc Anzani or 980cc JAP ohv engines. The designer was George Patchett who was previously with Brough Superior and later with Jawa. They were similar in appearance to the Brough Superior, as they had bulbous saddle tanks and large diameter drum brakes. Also on offer were machines with smaller capacity engines, including 348cc ohv Blackburne, 344cc and 490cc ohv JAP and the 172cc Villiers Super Sports.
1926 'A new company has been formed to take over the business of motor cycle manufacturer and engineer carried on at Duffield by Mr. M. A. McEvoy. With nominal capital of £500 in £1 shares McEvoy Motor Cycles (1926) Limited, will take over Markeaton Mills, Leaper-street, Derby. The directors are Mr. M. A, McEvoy, 107, Grosvenor-road. S.W. (permanent), and Mrs. M. A. S. McEvoy, of the same address.'[1]
1928 At the motorcycle show, late that year, other machines were exhibited. They had 346cc ohc single and 600cc ohc four-cylinder own-design engines.
1929 Those machines were catalogued for the season, but it is unlikely that any were produced, as the company ceased trading that year.
