1854 Travelled to England with a new apparatus for the Electric Telegraph Co

1854 Patent. '1110. To John Henry Johnson, of 47, Lincoln's inn-fields, in the county of Middlesex, and of Glasgow, North Britain, Gentleman, for the invention of "improvements in printing telegraphs."— A communication from Meinrad Theiler, a resident abroad.'[1]

1857 Theiler moved to London with his wife and four children

1857 Patent. '2453. To Meinrad Theiler, of 1, North-terrace, Westminster-road, London, Mechanic, for the invention of "a direct printing telegraph without relais and local battery."— A communication from Franz Theiler, of Einsiedeln, in Switzerland.'[2]

1859 The family returned to Switzerland

1860 Patent. '2453. Meinrad Theiler, of 1, North-terrace, Westminster-road, London, Mechanic. A direct printing telegraph, without relais and local battery.'[3]

1861 Patent. '2147. To Meinrad Theiler, of Einsiedeln, in the Republic of Switzerland, Engineer, for the invention of "improvements, in type printing telegraphs."'[4]

1861 Patent. '2429. And to Meinrad Theiler, of Einsedeln, in the Republic of Switzerland, Engineer, for the invention of "improvements in telegraphs."'[5]

1866 Returned to England with his two sons and set up Meinrad Theiler and Sons

1867 Exhibitor in the 1867 Paris Exhibition. 'Theiler, Meinard, 156, Barnsbury-road, London. — Telegraphic and scientific instruments.'[6]

1867 Patent. '1531. To Meinrad Theiler, sen., Richard Theiler, and Meinrad Theiler, jun., Telegraph and Scientific Instrument Makers, of 156, Barnsbury-road, Islington, Middlesex, for the invention of "improvements in telegraphic instruments and electric clocks."'[7]

1868 Patent. '1840. To Meinrad Theiler, Telegraphic and Scientific Instrument Maker, of 156, Barnsbury-road, Islington, Middlesex, for the invention of "new or improved machines or apparatus for punching or preparing strips of paper or other suitable material for the automatical transmission of telegraphic messages, and for other purposes, and improvements in apparatus for regulating the speed of telegraphic instruments, parts of which invention, as indicated above, are also applicable for other purposes."'[8]

1873 August 18th. Died.
