1947 A private company, incorporated this year, acting as merchants acquiring and dealing in tea allocated by the Ministry of Food.

1949 Incorporation of Typhoo Tea (Holdings) Ltd to acquire the Typhoo Tea business, Tea Buyers Ltd and Meriden Tea Co Ltd. Meriden was expected to work as dealers on behalf of the other operating companies when a free market in tea was allowed.[1]
