1871 Married at Wakefield to Annie Porritt Stonehouse and had seven sons and five daughters

1881 Living at Kidderminster: Michael Tomkinson (age 39 born Kidderminster), Carpet Manufacturer employing 800 females, 90 men and 36 boys. With his wife Annie, five sons and two daughters.[1]

1884 Mr. Tomkinson, carpet and rug manufacturer, of Kidderminster, who has recently taken Sodenton Hall.[2]

1921 June 28th. Died. 'The late Mr. Michael Tomkinson, of Kidderminster, was the senior partner in a well-known firm of carpet manufacturers, and a conspicuous figure in the town and in its staple industry. He opened a new era for Kidderminster when, more than forty years ago, he secured the English rights in the Axminster loom, and only last year was presented with a service of gold plate for his services as President of the Axminster Association for forty years. Mr. Tomkinson was seven times Mayor of Kidderminster, and for thirty years chairman of the board of guardians, as well as an active member.'[3]
