Sir Miles (William) Thomas (1897-1980), Chairman, British Overseas Airways Corporation.

1897 March 2nd. Born in North Wales

Educated at Bromsgrove School.

Engineering premium pupil at Belliss and Morcom.

Served 1914-18 in Armoured Car Squadron and was a pilot in the R.F.C.

After demobilisation wrote on technical subjects for the 'Motor' and then became editor of 'Light car'

1924 Became connected with Motor Industry as Adviser on Sales Promotion to William Richard Morris and editor of 'Morris owner'

1926 Founded Morris Oxford Press

1927 Director and General Sales Manager, Morris Motors.

1934, Director and General Manager, Morris Commercial Cars

1935 Similar position with Wolseley; 1937, Managing Director.

1941, Chairman, Cruiser Tank Production Group and member of Advisory Panel on Tank Production. 1947, Govt. of Southern Rhodesia Development Co-ordinating Commission.

1947-48, President of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders

1949 Chairman, British Overseas Airways Corporation
