Morris Engines

of Morris Engines (Coventry) Ltd

Specialised in the mass production of engines and gearboxes for vehicles made by W. R. Morris's businesses, later known as the Nuffield Organization.

1923 William Morris took over the engines factory of Hotchkiss et Cie at Coventry.

1924 Morris appointed Frank George Woollard to run the factory; he and his associates were responsible for introducing the first automatic transfer machines used in the production of engine components, making the Coventry factory a leader in large-scale production in UK[1]

1926 The company was put into voluntary liquidation; William Richard Morris was chairman[2]

Subsequently became the Engines Branch of Morris Motors, Ltd., Coventry.
