1978 Unilever acquired National Starch of USA, a leading producer of adhesives, starch and speciality organic chemicals.

1987 National Adhesives and Resin Ltd changed its name to National Starch and Chemical Ltd

1997 ICI made its biggest acquisition to date with the purchase of four businesses from Unilever including National Starch
