of London

See Thomas Richard Allinson

1892 Dr. Allinson bought a flour mill in Bethnal Green, London, establishing the Natural Food Co. Opened his first bakery.

1904 'It gives pleasure to draw attention to the success achieved and the progress made by the Natural Food Company Limited, of which the well-known Dr. T R. Allison is the chairman and Mr. Peter Tyrer the able managing director. Owing to the popularity of the Company's specialities the business has increased to such an extent that the premises at 21a. Patriot Square, Bethnal Green, became inadequate, and additional room was necessary. It was therefore decided to devote the whole of the premises to manufacturing purposes, and remove the sale rooms and offices to another building. The Company are to be congratulated upon having secured a prominently situated building at Cambridge Road, London (opposite the Bethnal Green Museum), and they have had it fitted up in an up-to-date and suitable manner. Among the Company's many specialities may be mentioned Allinson's whole meal bread, natural food for babies and invalids, power (the always ready food), prepared barley, N. F. cocoa, custard powder, blancmange powder, biscuits, chocolate, vegetable butter, breakfast oats, crushed Wheat, whole meal flour, and many toilet requisites. Brunak is Dr. Allison's health drink. It tastes, smells, and looks like coffee, although it does not contain a particle of coffee. According to a celebrated analyst, it is superior to tea, coffee, and cocoa, for it produces no ill effect. The pound packets are only 1s. each.'[1]

1946 The company was renamed Allinson Ltd
