Oxford Central Lighting Station

1892 The generating station of the Oxford Electric Co was commissioned; it was located at Osney, with a substation and the company's offices in Broad Street, Oxford. Contractors were Electric Construction Co under the supervision of Thomas Parker[1]. The Electric Construction Co had supplied one of the first of its "continuous-current" transformers to the station[2].
