P. J. Wilson, Member, was educated at King Edward's School Bath, and Birmingham Technical College. Following a mechanical engineering apprenticeship at Belliss and Morcom on steam engines, turbines, diesels and compressors, he joined James Archdale Worcester in 1941.

In 1957 he joined Sperry Vickers (then called Stein-Atkinson Vickers) as chief applications engineer and was later made Manager Product Engineering Department. He joined the Company's European Group at Cobham in 1970 as Technical Manager - Europe, a position he still holds. Mr Wilson is a member of the Mechanical's Fluid Power Transmission Group and is on the committee of the Environmental Science and Technology Section. He is also a member of several national and international committees dealing with hydraulic standardisation
