1963 Pillar Holdings acquired Grafton Industrial Securities.[3]
1965 Grafton Industrial Securities was renamed Pillar Engineering Ltd.
1970 Rio Tinto acquired Pillar, which had interest in fabricating aluminium[4]

- Distribution - John Lee (Sacks), Pillar Merchanting and its subsidiaries, The Skipper Group and its subsidiaries
- Engineering - Aeroparts Engineering Co, Andrew Chalmers and Mitchell, Attewell-Mycroshims, Peak Engineering Co, Pillar Seals and Gaskets, Pillar-Wedge Group and its subsidiaries, Pneumatic Components, Walters and Dobson (Aerite), Welding Rods and its subsidiaries.
