This company took over the 24.5 mile section of the Stanhope and Tyne Railway between Leadgate and South Shields in 1842.

1844 They opened the section between Boldon and Brockley Whins with the Brandling Junction Railway

1846 They were bought by the Newcastle and Darlington Junction Railway
