1947 Work by the Bournemouth and Poole Electricity Supply Co started on the station. The ultimate capacity would be 200MW provided by two 50MW Metropolitan-Vickers turbo-alternators and two 50MW Parsons sets. Steam would be supplied at 900 lb per sq. in and 925 deg. Fah. by eight p.f.-fired International Combustion boilers, each of 300,000 lb per hour rating.

1950 The first of the Metropolitan-Vickers turbo-alternators would be commissioned[1]
