1825 'THE PROVINCIAL PORTABLE GAS COMPANY, established in London, have it in contemplation to form an extensive Establishment in this town, for the distribution of Gas, in Gordon's Patent Lamps, which will be found very economical, and peculiarly adapted for lighting up manufactories, shops, private houses, &c. &c. The particulars will be submitted very shortly.'[1]

1828 'The shareholders in the Provincial Portable Gas Company met yesterday, and agreed to dissolve the company.'[2]
