1969 Pirelli-General Cable Works and Enfield-Standard Power Cables would set up a joint company to rationalise production, under the stimulus of the Industrial Reorganisation Corporation. Pirelli had a modern plant at Eastleigh[1]. Pirelli Enfield Supertension Cables Ltd was incorporated.

1983 The name of Pirelli Enfield Supertension Cables was changed to Pirelli General Ltd and re-registered as a plc.

2005 Pirelli Group sold its majority holding in its worldwide cable operations. Pirelli-General plc was renamed Prysmian Cables and Systems Ltd.

2007 Bought by Goldman Sachs[2]
