Punjab Railway
1857 January. Prospectus issued of the Punjab Railway Company with a capital of £2.5m of which 40% will be allocated to the directors of the Scinde Railway. Will run from Mooltan on the Indus to Lahore and then to Umritair, a distance of 230 miles. The line will connect with Kurachee by steam communication down the Indus to Hydrabad and then to the Scinde Railway. English engineers left on 4th September 1856 to make a survey.[1]
1859 March 25th. Official commencement of the project. William Brunton is chief engineer.[2]
1869 Amalgamated with the Scinde Railway, the Indus Flotilla Co and the Delhi Railway into the Scinde, Punjab and Delhi Railway
