Richard Edmund Reason, OBE

From the Biographical Dictionary of the History of Technology[1]:-

1903 Born in Exeter on 21 December

1987 Died at Great Bowden, Leicestershire, on 20 March

1925 After graduating he joined Taylor, Taylor and Hobson.

Responsible for significant advances in the measurement of surface finish and roundness, resulting in the production of Talysurf and Talyrond and other measuring machines. He was a prolific patentee, with 89 patents.

1968 Retired from Rank Taylor Hobson, but continued as a consultant to the company.
