1889 Robert Stirling Newall, having left R. S. Newall and Co, moved to Washington and then to Liverpool where he set up a new business with his son [1].

1891 Took limited company status

1900 Micrometer wire gauge. R S Newall and Son of Washinton. Article and illustration in The Engineer.[2]

1923 Business continued by Newall's grandson, L. B. Newall

1923 Incorporated in British Ropes Ltd on its formation[3].
