1969 The Empire Rib Company changed its name to Range Engineering Industries. Activities included steel rolling and heavy engineering, light engineering and plating[1]

By 1970 owned Heeley Spring and Pressings, one of 2 remaining umbrella makers in the UK[2]

1977 Raine Engineering Industries made its final bid for Sheffield Brick Group[3] but this seems to have been unsuccessful.

1982 Renamed Raine Industries plc

1983 Raine Engineering Industries (sic), housebuilder and maker of Fox umbrellas, was having such a good year that it publicised this performance early[4]

1986 The private housebuilding and property company Miller Wheeldon was taken-over by the company[5]. In fact this was a reverse take-over [6] which led to new management and a change in Raine's strategy. At the same time Miller Wheeldon acquired C. Price and Son. Sold Fox Umbrella Frames Ltd. Group companies included:[7]:

Acquired Ford and Weston shop fitter and construction group

Acquired Lycett and Platt, shop fitter and 2 small housebuilders

1987 Raine Industries acquired Aberdeen Construction Group plc

1988 Swapped Aberdeen Construction, aggregates, with Evered Holdings's house building arm Fletcher Holdings

1988 Failed in its bid for Ruberoid Co

1992 Renamed Raine Ltd. Acquired Walter Lawrence[8]

1997 Acquired by Alfred McAlpine[9]
