- 1858 The yard was established on a site where the Transporter Bridge now stands, but operated only in that year, producing four vessels.
- 1859 Richardson, Duck and Co took over the yard.
- 1859 Raylton Dixon was appointed manager of the shipyard.
- 1862 With Thomas Backhouse, Dixon bought the yard.
- 1863 Dixon became a partner in business with Thomas Backhouse as Backhouse and Dixon[1].
