1923 News item. 'Illuminated Gloves. A novel illuminated gauntlet glove for motorists and traffic controllers has been invented by Mr. R. Barton Adamson, automobile engineer, Enfield, Highway, Middlesex. On the back of the glove, fixed in a small holder, are two electric lamps, one red and one white. The red light is used by motorists when turning or stopping and the white light is used for inspection, reading sign-posts or maps. The battery is carried the outside of the gauntlet in a neat pocket. On the inside of the thumb and two fingers are small metal contact points, and to light the lamps one simply closes the finger on the thumb. The price of the gloves, which are named the Gauntlite, is 355, 6d. They are made in black for police.'[1]
