1856 A report by Mr. Rendel and Mr. Simpson, M.Inst.C.E., on the New Westminster Bridge, caused considerable excitement, and induced much public discussion, about that structure. Rendel's designs for the suspension bridge across the ornamental water in St. James’ Park, were only completed just before his fatal illness began.
