Richard Barrow
Richard Barrow (1787-1865)
Brother of John Barrow (1790-1871) and George Hodgkinson Barrow
became an experienced and wealthy merchant
c.1843 His brother, George, transferred control and responsibility of Staveley Ironworks to him. As a consequence Richard had to sign a new lease.
1844 George's will (made 4th May 1844), recognised his brother's commitment and investment and bequeathed him his entire real and personal estate: "my brother Richard has advanced towards the well being of the Staveley Ironworks and collieries much more money than they are worth."
