Robert Arthur True Robert Arthur True was born on 5th December 1867. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1901 and transferred to Member in 1914.

He specialized in the field of design, costing, works layout and management. In 1895 he became Assistant to the Works Director of Marshall Sons and Co., Ltd., of Gainsborough.

He joined Barford and Perkins, Ltd., Peterborough, in 1899, where he remained as Works Manager and Director until 1926.

He was for a short time General Manager of R. Garratt and Sons, Ltd., of Leiston, until in 1927 he returned to Peterborough as Censor of Detail Drawings for Economical Production in the employ of Baker Perkins, Ltd., where he remained until 1934.

Mr. True, who died in March 1955, served from November 1946 until April 1954 as Local Honorary Secretary of the Benevolent Fund in the East Midlands Branch of the Institution and took a particular interest in the work of the Fund.
