1847 April 4th. Married in Liverpool to Ann Newall

1881 Living at Barn Hey, Toxteth Park, Liverpool: Robert Cain (age 54 born Liverpool), Brewer. With his wife Ann Cain (age 50 born Lowton) and their six children; Sarah A. Cain (age 22 born Liverpool); Lena Cain (age 18 born Liverpool); Wm. Ern Cain (age 16 born Liverpool); Chas. Alex. Cain (age 14 born Liverpool); Herbert Cain (age 12 born Liverpool); and Gert. Amy Cain (age 7 born Liverpool). One visitor. Three servants.[1]

1907 July 19th. Died, of Mersey Brewery, 57 Stanhope Street, Liverpool, and of Barn Hey, Meols Drive, Hoylake. Probate to William Ernest Cain and Charles Alexander Cain, brewers.
