1837 Born in Gateshead, son of Joseph and Sarah Watson, Quakers

1863 Married Elizabeth Richardson, sister of John Wigham Richardson

1871 He was one of the founders of Durham College of Science, later known as Armstrong College

1874 Set up the Liberal Association in Newcastle and led the Liberals in Newcastle for the next 30 years

1889 One of the founders of Newcastle-upon-Tyne Electric Supply Co, with John Theodore Merz

1891 A solicitor, living in Gateshead, with Elizabeth S Watson 52, Mabel S Watson 26, Bertha S Watson 13, Arnold S Watson 11[2]

1901 A solicitor
