1946 'The flotation of the business of S. Gibson and Sons, leather manufacturers, Hough End Tannery, Brumley. Leeds, with which Sir Granville Gibson (former M.P. for Pudsey and Otley) is associated. . . .The business was started 43 years ago in a very modest way at Woodhouse, Leeds, by Mr. Simeon Gibson and his son (now Sir Granville Gibson) In three years father and son, had laid by enough capital to! buy the freehold and machinery of Hough End Tannery.'[1]
