1912 Alexander Stephen and Sons built their first turbine in response to an order from the Anchor Line for a twin-screw single reduction geared turbine passenger liner for the Glasgow—New York service. This was the Tuscania. She had a power of 10,000 S.H.P., and a sea speed of 17 knots and went into service in February 1915.
She was torpedoed during the War
Another ship of the same name was built after the war.
