Sandhills Bridge, Liverpool

From Graces Guide

in Kirkdale, Liverpool

This wrought iron arch bridge, with cast iron parapets, carries Sandhills Lane over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Opened in 1874. Ironwork produced by the Darlaston Iron Bridge Co.

The 1890/1893 O.S. map shows that the canal at this point separated a complex of industrial premises and a railway network to the west from dense housing to the east, the areas being linked by Sandhills Bridge and, 600 yards to the south, by Boundary Bridge[1]
