1862 In respect of the 1851 patent "improvements in the preparation of materials for the production of a composition or compositions, applicable to the manufacture of buttons, knife and razor handles, inkstands, door knobs, and other articles where hardness, strength, and. durability are required", the Scottish Vulcanite Company (Limited) as Assignees o£ the said letters patent, has applied for leave to enter with the Clerk of the Patents of England a disclaimer and memorandum of alteration of certain parts of the specification to the said letters patent[1]

1868 In a series on Scottish industry, "The factory of the Scottish Vulcanite Co - How Vulcanite combs, jewellery, etc are made" - a feature in the Weekly Scotsman[2]
