1958 Patent - Improvements in the production of packings, bearings and fabrics, the surface of which is required to have a low co-efficient of friction.
The company estimates that in 1958 it held about 10 per cent of the total market. It had a licence agreement with American Brakeshoe Company for the provision of technical information.
1960 Cape acquired Small and Parkes which had some OEM business in car brake linings but was hindered by lack of capital. Arrangement with American Brakeshoe was terminated. The technical department was strengthened. Cape invested to increase capacity to attract OEMs.
1961 Belting and brake lining manufacturers. Makers of Don brake and clutch linings, Don-Flex patent clutch disc, grooved Roko power transmission beltings, Karmal steam and hydraulic packings, Roko webbings and spindle tapes. 1,100 employees.[2]
1962 Merge of Cape's other friction materials subsidiary (Capasco Ltd) with Small and Parkes
1963 Manufacture of friction materials within Cape was concentrated at the Manchester factory.
1963 Motor Show exhibitor. Don and Capasco brake and clutch linings.[3]
1965 The company entered into technical collaboration with Rane Brake Linings, Manchester, UK for a period of 10 years from 1st July, in relation to Don linings and clutch facings and right to use the trade, mark "DON" in brake and clutch linings.
1974 Became part of Cape Asbestos Co's Automotive and Engineering Products Division.[4].
