Steelite Explosives

From Graces Guide

Everard Steele invented an explosive containing potassium chlorate, an ingredient that (it was thought) could not be used in a manner that was practicable or safe.

1908 The company was formed to acquire from the Steelite Syndicate Ltd 2 factories at Widnes and at Penrhyn-Deudraeth near Portmadoc[1]

1908 Curtis's and Harvey disputed the claim about chlorate of potash; they had been making such a product since before 1901[2]
